Nursery
Our nursery is staffed and run mostly by volunteers and there are several ways you can get involved.
It's a great opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, and make a positive contribution to and learn more about our wonderful Redlands environment.
Propagation workshops
Learn how to propagate plants - support your community nursery. The IndigiScapes Nursery is 100 per cent volunteer run and all profits are put back into continuing its operations.
Volunteers meet to put down seed and cuttings and pot on seedlings.
This is a great way to learn about the materials you might need to propagate your own plants and also about techniques of seed treatment, taking cuttings and general propagation.
Seed sorting group meet:
- 1st and 3rd Thursday 7.30am - 9.30am
Learn to identify when seeds are ready and how to sort and store seeds to ensure they are viable in the future.
Propagation groups meet:
- Every Thursday 1pm - 3pm
- 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month 9am - 11am
Learn how to propagate from seed and cuttings and learn seed treatment techniques. You can also volunteer to help prepare for sales at various times in the week leading up to our monthly sales day. Contact IndigiScapes for more information 3824 8611.
Seed Collection Group
This group goes to the far corners of the Redlands on the 3rd Friday of each month collecting native seed for our bushland areas.
As well as an enjoyable bushwalk, this is also a great way to improve you plant identification skills in the field with experienced people.
If you’d like a copy of our seed collection calendar with details of outings for 2009 email us.
Seed Bank Group
This is where the seed we collect is sorted, cleaned and prepared for use by the propagation groups.
This important stage takes the raw materials from the bush and turns them into something we can use.
The group meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday from 7.30am - 9.30am.
