IndigiScapes won the Ecotourism category in this year's Redlands on Moreton Bay Tourism Awards. This category recognises ecologically sustainable tourism with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas that foster environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation.
Council launched the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre in October 1997.
IndigiScapes is a 14.5ha site and is Australia's first environmental centre for indigenous plants including:
- demonstration gardens
- over a kilometre of walking tracks
- an information centre
- a meeting room
- a dining deck.
The IndigiScapes Tea Garden provides an inviting place to take a break.
Displays, workshops and events are regular features at the centre.
The botanical garden section features a coastal garden,scribbly gum garden, formal garden, wildlife attracting garden, grey gum garden, waterwise garden, rainforest garden, wetland garden and creek vegetation garden.
Whether you're a home gardener or landscaper, visitors can learn how to use local plants in a garden's design.
