Help out Redlands koalas by joining us for our annual Koala Community Planting.
Join in the fun of creating a new area of bushland, focusing on planting the favourite food trees of local koalas.
Stay after the planting for a sausage sizzle and take home a free native plant!
Plants, tools, sunscreen, gloves and sausage sizzle all provided – please bring enclosed shoes, sun protection and drinking water.

Days Road Conservation Reserve, Redland Bay

Days Road Conservation Reserve is an extensive Eucalypt forest rich in diversity. This is a great trip for collecting from some of those species less common in the Redlands, as well as an opportunity to explore one of the largest reserves in the city.

Set in our beautiful native botanic gardens, there will be plenty of delicious food, environmental stalls and thousands of native plants for sale. A great event for the whole family with face painting, games and animal displays for the kids – all free! Indigi Day Out is held in partnership with the Redlands Folk Music Festival to bring you a weekend of fantastic music, information and entertainment...see you there!

Staff from Northey Street City Farm will show you how to transform even the smallest space into a beautiful and productive garden using recycled materials found around the home! There will be an outdoor component to the workshop so please bring sun protection. Cost is $5 plus $25 deposit (refundable on the day).

Greater Glider Reserve, Alexandra Hills
|
Greater Glider is a large reserve nestled amongst the urban landscape of Alexandra Hills. This area is predominately open eucalypt forest dominated by Scribbly Gum (Eucalyptus racemosa) and Tallowwood (Eucalyptus microcorys). This area also contains remnant pockets of heath featuring the Swamp Banksia (Banksia robur).

Join us for a stroll through the shaded riparian vegetation along the edge of Eprapah Creek. This excellent example of a riparian ecosystem has an abundance of Lilly-Pilly, Lomandra, Laurel and Sandpaper Figs, with plenty of wildlife to see along the way.

Russell Island
|
The largest of the Southern Bay Islands has plenty to offer, with a wide selection of wildflowers at this time of year. We will visit the heath at Turtle Swamp and maybe explore a new location or two along the way. This will be a longer trip, with lunch at a special location on the island.

This area delivers a spectacular wildflower wonderland amongst dry eucalypt woodland. Hopefully the wildflower season should be in full swing for this visit. With a rich diversity of wildflowers and the chance of sighting a Glossy Black Cockatoo, this is trip not to be missed!

The annual ‘Straddie’ trip is a favourite and, as always, the focus will be on heaths and coastal ecosystems. This is an all day trip visiting the coastal dunes and heath, as we cross the island. There will also be time for lunch and a swim at Brown Lake.
