Wildlife
The Redlands is home to a variety of wildlife such as koalas, migratory shorebirds and flying foxes. Moreton Bay hosts marine creatures such as dolphins, turtles and the rare dugong.
From June to November each year, the majestic humpback whales pass the North Gorge Headland on North Stradbroke Island as they travel from Antarctica, to their calving grounds near the Great Barrier Reef. While the calves are still quite young, they begin their southern return journey passing close to the coast.
If you find any sick or injured wildlife, please contact the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, Daisy Hill Koala Centre on ph 3299 1032. The 24-hour Redlands Wildlife Rescue is ph 3833 4031.
