Is your property a smaller urban lot?
Council encourages the planting of native plants and trees but remember, trees grow quickly and can get very big in the Redlands!
Council provides a free garden advice service to residents. An officer from the Your Backyard Garden program can visit your garden and advise on weed management, waterwise gardening, fauna friendly fencing and pet management.
To book, contact the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre at 3824 8611. Or you can visit the centre at 17, Runnymede Road, Capalaba, QLD 4157 for nursery plants and free advice.
Some species of plants are actively discouraged and having certain species on your property could be in breach of the Land Protection (Pest & Stock Route Management) Act 2002. Council has produced a Vegetation Enhancement Strategy to help you select the most suitable plants and trees for your property.

Would you like to plant trees in conservation reserve or park?
You may only plant trees in reserves under the supervision of Council's Bushcare Program.
Council operates this very successful Bushcare program from the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre. There may be an established group near you or you may be able to start a group with friends and neighbours.
The Bushcare program also encourages participation in tree planting days. These include National Tree Day, Glossy Black Cockatoo plantings and Koala Community plantings. Contact the Redlands IndigiScapes Centre on 3824 8611 for further information on the Bushcare Program.
Would you like to plant trees on the nature strip outside your house?
